The Agony House Book Review

Summary

Denise’s family has just bought a run-down house in New Orleans with dreams of turning it into a bed and breakfast. But when strange things keep happening around the house, Denise suspects some supernatural activity.

With the help of Terry, the neighbourhood ghost fanatic, Denise finds an old comic book in the attic and discovers that the house has a dark secret. Now Denise must solve the mystery behind the house (and ghosts) with the help of her new friends before it’s too late for her and her family.

Review

The Agony House is a spooky, fast-paced and mysterious read. I really enjoyed the mystery, and the author expertly weaves in important issues like gentrification and recovery from natural disasters. Although I didn’t like it quite as much as Cherie Priest’s I am Princess X, which is one of my favourite books, The Agony House was still an amazing read. I’d recommend it for anyone looking, for a short, creepy and mysterious read.
