The Last Gargoyle Book Review

Summary

Penhallow is the stony protector of a Boston apartment building. Long story short he’s a grotesque, one the fearless gargoyles that defend their wards from the evil spirits who invade the city during the night. Everything is as usual until all in one night when Penhallow’s fellow grotesques are destroyed and a strange half dead spectre appears. And when an unusual girl named Viola shows up, things only get weirder.

Soon Penhallow is facing a terrifying undead opponent, the Boneless King. Will Penhallow be able to stop the Boneless King from stealing the future of his precious wards? Or will he and his wards fall victim to the sinister shadows that roam the night?

Review

The Last Gargoyle is sinister, with intriguing characters and a good share of humour. Penhallow is a charming narrator who is sure to capture your attention. I really love the plot and characters, which are both wonderfully unique. I would recommend this book to fans of The Night Gardener by Jonathan Auxier, and the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan.
