A Day of Signs and Wonders Book Review

Summary

June 27 1881.

Nine-year-old Emily Carr sometimes wishes she could fly away. Away from terrible Mrs. Crane, away from her sisters and even her pesky pinafore.

Thirteen-year-old Kathleen O’Reilly, Kitty for short, wishes she didn’t have to go to boarding school in England. She wishes her sister was still alive.

The two girl’s coincidental meeting leads to them spending a very important day together. Little do the two girls know, this day will change both their lives. What will this wonderful day hold?

Review

A Day of Signs and Wonders is a beautiful book that provides a realistic look into the childhood of Emily Carr. I thought it was interesting that, even though A Day of Signs and Wonders took place on only one day, it was still a complete story with lots of things happening in it. I would recommend A Day of Signs and Wonders to readers who enjoyed Kit Pearson’s other books or are interested in learning about Emily Carr. I hope you enjoy A Day of Signs and Wonders!
