Review

Walk on Earth a Stranger is a marvellous historical fiction novel with a hint of fantasy. Two reasons why I enjoyed Walk on Earth a Stranger include the fascinating California gold rush setting and the original and creative cast of characters which show the many different types of people who traveled west to the gold-bearing earth of California in 1849. One last thing to keep in mind about Walk on Earth a Stranger is that some pretty ugly things happen on the road to California, such as measles and cholera outbreaks and many horrible injuries which may not be suitable for younger kids, but are fine for tweens. But all in all, Walk on Earth a Stranger is a highly enjoyable historical read.
